BDSM Kink Awareness Movement
On July 8 there will be a rally at (TBA) to make a public stand for equality in BDSM and kink community. When we label ourselves BDSM or Kinksters we are opening ourselves up to serious consequences for identifying publicly as BDSM or being kinky. Right now as I type there a lot of talk between us in our BDSM and Kink community about how we should be kept in the closet but yet we want to be treated like everyone else. We think we are safe in our homes, dungeon or jobs but we are really at risk every day that someone might out us. If you look at the most effective ways to fight the anti-BDSM crowd is for us BDSM and Kinksters to come out and say it’s enough this is who I am. We live in shame everyday as we lie to our families and friends about what we do on the weekend or in the privacy of own bedrooms. Being out about our kink in the vanilla world can be a very powerful statement: a statement that we are not be ashamed of whom we are. We live in fear and that we are fearful of coming out to our families, friends and to the world. We have nothing to be shameful about as we pay taxes, raise families and go to work in the vanilla world but yet we allow others to shame us on the type of lifestyle that we chose.
BDSM Kink Awareness Movement is a Grassroots Nonviolent Rally for social change. We all talk about the fact that if your a teacher or in some other type of profession that you can be fired if you are involved in BDSM. How many have had to their children taken away because of BDSM in a custody case or had to battle this in court and put away your toys and take off profiles off the net to look normal?
Just when you thought that there were no more civil rights causes to participate in we have BDSM Kink Awareness Movement for all. We have our Civil Liberties taken away from us each day as we have lost our Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Speech and The Freedom to Exercise Clause. How many people are facing this fear each day that someone will find out about their kink? Fear of telling your family or your boss that you are into BDSM and Kink or the fear of your children taken away or being arrested for just being into BDSM. There are countless stories of people in jail or facing jail terms because of BDSM in the privacy of their own bedroom or dungeon.
We have the right to Freedom of Assembly and the right to Right to Petition our government to say out of our bedrooms and dungeons and the right to be adults and practice our life choice.
We have fought for Civil Rights movements for other cause such as Women’s, Peace, Environmental, LGBTQ, Immigrant Justice, labor rights and other movements of the last 60 years and what about us in the BDSM community? Why do we have to hide who we are. We are not asking to do BDSM on the street but to tell the government to stay out of our bedrooms and dungeons we can reclaim some self respect. It’s time we stand up and say no more we have rights too as stated in our constitution under the first amendment right.
A revolution has been set in motion, and we cannot be stopped. Kink Awareness and BDSM solidarity, anti-oppression, autonomy, and direct democracy can be put into practice to create social change. We call upon many clubs and Individuals to joining together in general assemblies and autonomous affinity groups of BDSM. We can make a difference and not live in fear or shame anymore but its means taking risks and getting out and supporting such a cause.
We need volunteers stand up with us in protest and work behind the scenes as we understand that many can not be seen in public but there will many that will be able and we will stand up for you.
BDSM Kink Awareness Movement is a growing grassroots network of individuals and organizations fighting for the freedom of adults to engage in consensual activities of BDSM and kink in private or at our dungeons. BDSM Kink Awareness Movement is there to reclaim our human rights and our first amendment right to privacy and self expression and to be allowed a lifestyle, or sexuality of our own choosing. We need to put our energies and community together to turn the tide of puritanical laws which create harmless criminals and victimless crimes. BDSM is a consensual practice between adults, however often the law does not allow you to consent to physical assault, which includes things like spanking, face slapping, crops, whips, paddles and the new law in CA on Strangulation

This law is to support people in domestic abuse cases, who are sometimes reluctant to charge their abuser as such— in these cases the law can step in and follow through with a domestic violence case. We understand why the law is place but how does it affect us in BDSM and kink? We are talking about consensual play between two adults not domestic abuse. The only way we can make changes is by nonviolent rally’s and educating the police and medical field about what is Safe Sane and Consensual play. There is not a street in the good old USA that someone is not being tied to a bed, spanked or some sort of BDSM act in their private love making. We are not alone in this and we no longer have to hide who we are.
We are asking for everyone that joins us to bring a mask to wear to make a statement of hiding and a time will be set up for anyone that wishes to take off the mask can. We understand that some will not be able to show their faces but we do need your support and just being there with your mask on will make a statement. We will be holding signs that will say, I’m a Mother, I’m a teacher, I’m Dom, I’m a Kinkster, I’m into BDSM and so much more.
We will be getting a permit to have this rally and will do everything we can to make this a peaceful rally. We will do this with respect and honor and we hope that this will spread round the country and other cites will do their own rally on July 8 a week before BDSM Pride Day a day of unity.
